£915 worth (see “SOS Zinotajs 2014/2” page 14) of online donations received by the end of 2014 were used to buy furniture and washing machines for 6 vulnerable families in Bauska and Valmiera nominated by SOS Childrens Villages Latvia. This should minimise the risk of these families ever needing help from a crisis centre.

Received but carried forward:
– £894 carried forward to be used in 2015/16 FY. 

Donations in kind 1,002kg (2,209lbs) of clothes and toys were donated by parents from Latvian School in London, London Latvian families and other beneficiaries. Hotel 72QT in London managed by Latvian Welfare Fund supported us with temporary storage. Local Latvian man & van helped to transport donations to airport. airBaltic supported shipment to Latvia. Latvian Children’s Fund coordinated logistics in Latvia. Goods in process of being distributed among 6 crisis centres in Riga, Talsi, Dobele, Sigulda, Ogre and Koknese.

Strategy consultations for charities in Latvia: we have introduced SOS Childrens Villages Latvia with the head of a large UK based charity Olave Baden-Powell Society for strategy development and fundraising consultation session held in Riga in Dec 2014.
